Psst! I want to let you in on a little secret. Do you want to know how people are sharing the content on your blog or website? Of course you do. Here’s how…
A few days ago I installed the AddThis Sharing plugin on my Game Changer blog and have already started seeing people using it. I’ve tried other sharing plugins before such as ShareThis but never saw a lot of usage from it and wasn’t very customizable so decided to try something else.
The difference is AddThis let’s you customize what buttons appear, it also puts the ‘share button’ right were visitors can click it. The key with this plugin is flexibility.
As you can see I placed the buttons at the top of the post and at the bottom just before the comments:

Above post
Below post
These are the ideal locations to place the share buttons. Also there’s no need to code where to put the ‘share button’! You get the option of ‘above post’ or ‘below post’ (See Below). That simple!

Why is adding AddThis to your blog or website important?
For a few reasons. Number one, if you care about word of mouth, you need to make it easy for people to tell their friends about you. Whether they use Facebook, Twitter or email, you want to make it easy for them to share.
Number two, you know what content people are sharing and to where. Combined with your Google Analytics data, knowing this can give you tremendous insight. You can then use these data points to craft content that you know will resonate with people as well as where to put it so people access it at their own time.
Another interesting feature is that AddThis provides you with broad data about how people are sharing around the world.
Very powerful indeed.
AddThis is now my go-to sharing tool and I encourage you to try it!
